The YourExtraLife mobile application encourages users to experiment with the world around them by taking up creative real-life challenges. Designed and developed by four young entrepreneurs from the Mauricie region, the application has been available at the App Store since June 30, 2013.
The Ingenio prize encourages companies to come up with innovative products and projects related to interactive multimedia entertainment. “YourExtraLife meets this definition perfectly, as it is an original and ambitious project based on a well-thought-out idea and an innovative business model with features that drew the attention of the selection panel,” said Nathalie Rajotte, Ingenio’s General Manager. “We proudly encourage entrepreneurship that is rooted in the desire for excellence and creativity,” she added.
The Ingenio prize generates significant visibility for young entrepreneurs. According to Philip Barclay, one of four YourExtraLife founders, the fact that a young start-up company like theirs is awarded such a coveted prize confirms the value and soundness of the work they do. “As winners of the Concours québécois en entrepreneuriat, we benefit from wide recognition and are able to join the larger community of entrepreneurs,” he said. Since May 2012, Philip Barclay, Samuel Chénard, Samuel Dion-Girardeau and Gheorgita Catalin Bordianu have been putting all their energy into creating a mobile application equal in quality to the most popular ones on the market. The iPhone application they designed challenges users to take creative, real-life photos, and nudges them out of their comfort zone. The photos are then validated by other members of the YourExtraLife virtual community in order to attain higher levels. A number of gaming mechanisms are used to stimulate the user and maintain interest. For more information, go to yourextralife.com or their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/yourextralife.
