Is This Site for You?

This web site is dedicated to the women and men who operate the world's 200+ legal state operated lotteries. We have spent a career researching, writing and reporting on the global lottery industry.

There is little information that the average lottery player would find of value. The statistics we collect are by and large countable numbers audited by professionals collected and published by us. We primarily track information on lottery sales, prizes and net profit to government, advertising budgets and game design--both for TLF Publications' annual books (such as La Fleur's World Lottery Almanac) and our monthly magazine (La Fleur's Magazine).

Scientific Games Participates in the Successful Opening of Oxford Casino in Maine

ALPHARETTA, GA – June 12, 2012 – Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq: SGMS) today announced its participation in the successful opening of the Oxford Casino in Maine.  When Maine’s second casino opened its doors to the public on June 5th, Scientific Games’ AEGIS-Video™ Central Communication System enabled the gaming machines to go online seamlessly in coordination with the grand opening countdown.  The gaming floor was opened and began 24-hour operations with no disruption to service.

In December 2011, Scientific Games signed a five-year video gaming central system extension agreement with the Maine Gambling Control Board.  Under the terms of the contract, Scientific Games agreed to provide real-time communication and control between every licensed video gaming terminal in the state of Maine, including the new Oxford Casino, as well as day-to-day management of the operation of the central system and service throughout the state.  Scientific Games has an operational center in Gardiner, Maine that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for the Lottery and the Gambling Control Board.

“Scientific Games has been our vendor since the first slot facility opened in the state in 2005 and we have been pleased with their reliability, support and service over the years,” stated Patrick Fleming, Executive Director of the Maine Gambling Control Board.  “Once again, Scientific Games delivered.  The facility and central monitoring and control system were ready ahead of schedule and their implementation was seamless - as soon as the countdown for opening reached zero, everyone began playing.”

“We are very pleased to be a part of this special day at the Oxford Casino,” said Brennen Lawrence, Vice President of Video Gaming for Scientific Games. “We have been a partner to the Maine Gambling Control Board since the very beginning with the opening of the temporary facility in Bangor, so it was gratifying to see how successful the Oxford Casino opening was.  Between the Hollywood Casino in Bangor and now the Oxford Casino, we believe the State is well positioned to benefit.”
