MALTCO LOTTERIES Ltd. has presented the Malta Community Chest Fund with a donation
Friday, March 2, 2012 at 12:30PM The donation was made to the President of Malta, H.E. Dr. George Abela by MALTCO LOTTERIES’ CEO Dr. John Katakis, at San Anton Palace in Attard last Tuesday 7th February.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr Katakis said that “MALTCO’s donation to the Malta Community Chest Fund at this time of year shows the need for continuous support towards the Fund’s sterling work throughout the year rather than just during fund raising events.” He continued by saying that for the past five years this event has become an annual appointment as the company strongly believes in helping individuals with special needs.
MALTCO’s operation of the National Lottery since June 2004 has also enabled the generation of significant funds to the National Lotteries Good Causes Fund. In fact, up till the end of 2011, nearly €5.6 million were generated for this fund which falls under the remit of the Ministry of Finance. Moreover, since starting operations, MALTCO’s activity has generated more than €119 million in revenue to the Government by way of initial and on-going license fees and taxes with over 900 people involved in the operation on a full-time or part-time basis.
