Is This Site for You?

This web site is dedicated to the women and men who operate the world's 200+ legal state operated lotteries. We have spent a career researching, writing and reporting on the global lottery industry.

There is little information that the average lottery player would find of value. The statistics we collect are by and large countable numbers audited by professionals collected and published by us. We primarily track information on lottery sales, prizes and net profit to government, advertising budgets and game design--both for TLF Publications' annual books (such as La Fleur's World Lottery Almanac) and our monthly magazine (La Fleur's Magazine).

Gtech Corporation Names Matteo Monteverdi as Senior Vice President of iGaming

PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND – October 11, 2012 – GTECH Corporation announced that it has named Matteo Monteverdi as Senior Vice President of iGaming. Reporting directly to GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel, Matteo will be responsible for GTECH’s global interactive strategy, including product offerings with an emphasis on the nascent U.S. iGaming market.  Matteo most recently held the position of Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing Services and President of Betting & Interactive at Lottomatica.

“Interactive gaming, or iGaming, is becoming increasingly important in the lottery industry, particularly in the United States,” said Mr. Patel. “Lottomatica has had great success as an iGaming operator in the highly-competitive Italian market. Matteo comes to GTECH with a wealth of experience he gained from managing marketing of traditional lottery products as well as overseeing the interactive unit at Lottomatica.  I am confident that with his background of successfully building the interactive platform in one of the most competitive markets in the world, Matteo will help GTECH to further develop our global iGaming strategy.”

GTECH’s iGaming organization will focus on driving the adoption of interactive wagering through Lottomatica Group’s experience as an interactive operator and supplier of technology.  Matteo will be responsible for designing the delivery strategy and leading innovation in the iGaming space.

“We see tremendous growth potential in the global iGaming market, particularly in the Americas and Asia,” said Mr. Monteverdi.  “In the U.S., there is a strong demand for interactive platforms. With the recent Department of Justice opinion, U.S. lotteries now have the means to expand their player base by providing exciting content and playing options through the Internet, a medium that is powerful and prevalent. Operating as a B2C business in other areas of the globe, we have the experience and are well-positioned to give our U.S. customers the best technology and advise them on how to effectively market their products through the interactive space.”

Under Matteo’s leadership, Lottomatica became one of the first lottery operators in the world to succeed in the iGaming arena by deploying social and mobile solutions that are used daily by approximately 25 percent of Lottomatica’s interactive customers. Prior to Lottomatica, he worked with Promptu System Corp, a B2C mobile software Silicon Valley startup in Palo Alto, California. Matteo also collaborated as a venture partner with Innogest Capital, the largest early-stage Venture Capital firm in Italy.

Matteo holds an MBA in General Management from SDA Bocconi University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Business Law from the University of Milan. He will be based at GTECH’s headquarters in Providence, Rhode Island.
